Demimonde is a 14 tracks compilation composed by artists as difference from their musical expression than from their geographical location. Soft electricity, abused electronics, pinched/bowed/hammered strings and vocal strings meet under the glowing light of an introverted, innocent and touching musical sense or writing.

COMPILATION
UNDER THE NAME OF Algojo)(Algojo
CURATED BY Christof Migone
Ohm Éditions, Avatar, 1997

Of all the strange experimental releases out there, Compost (and its follow-up Compost 2) is one of the strangest. This oddly-shaped disc contains 30 one-minute tracks, but “Compost” really is one 30-minute piece (incidentally, track changes are arbitrary). The CD is presented without names or copyright. One can only assume that collaborators to the project are the usual suspects of the Québec City audio art collective Avatar: Jocelyn Robert, Christof Migone, Chantal Dumas, Pierre-André Arcand, maybe even Gregory Whitehead, Fabrice Montal and the famous Algojo)(Algojo . Audio garbage, aborted projects, and snippets that were left to rot in the bottom drawer have been combined in an ode to sound recycling. One can recognize bits of Arcand’s machina riccordi (a loop recording device) experiments, TV broadcasts (in French and English), and Dave Brubeck on hurdy-gurdy. This theater of the absurd doesn’t make much sense, but it provides an enjoyably deranged experience.

COMPILATION
UNDER THE NAME OF Algojo)(Algojo
CURATED BY Christof Migone
Ohm Éditions, Avatar, 1996

An event connecting artists creating for the telephone space.

… compressed telephonics, the Bell noise gating of distance, anonymity as safe intimacy, chats & gossip, calling card frauds, forgotten messages, answering machines with only questions…

Rappel, little known branch of Bell, concerns itself with the compressed sound of telephony, the static of far away discourse, the telephone breaths of a familiar overseas, of anonymity as tactic towards intimacy, of gossip nets, of phone cards without phones, of messages without messengers. Rappel supports all numbers with no address, all addresses with no numbers, persisent eavesdroppers, answering machines who can think up lies. Rappel has offices almost everywhere, just call the wrong number, or place a quarter in the ear of a stranger. All our agents will be glad to help you hang up.

Participants: Daniel Leduc, Pierre-André Arcand, Algojo) (Algojo, Sylvia Wang, Doyon/Demers, Jean Routhier, Christof Migone, Chantal Dumas, Kathy Kennedy, Gregory Whitehead.

COMPILATION
UNDER THE NAME OF Algojo)(Algojo
Ohm Éditions, Avatar, 1994

Five short pieces published on a compilation cd presenting pieces of only 20 seconds or less. Over fifteen artists participated in this cd curated and produced by Jocelyn Robert. Ding Dong deluxe was the first compact disc published by the audio-art artist-run center Avatar, founded in Québec in 1993 by Jocelyn Robert with Pierre-André Arcand, Christof Migone, James Partaik and Charles-Eric Savard

A short sound works compilation. How is it that the shortest sound pieces are almost always over 60 seconds long? That there are nearly none under 30 seconds? That nothing happens under 15 seconds except for jingles? Isn’t it an occasion for an attempt, a risk, an exploration, a sound search? AVATAR invited some artists to submit projects that dare enter the forgotten sound territory hidden between the instant and the brief.
